L.R YOUNG, CPRSR, PSS

Operations Director

Hailing from South Minneapolis, my upbringing was marked by the challenges of gangs, drug dealing, and involvement in various crimes. A federal court indictment resulted in a 4-year prison term. During this time, I independently navigated the complexities of forming an LLC, conceptualized the blueprint for Pressure Produced, and secured seven patents for my innovative creations.
Post-release, my determination to break the cycle of my past led me to actively engage with local nonprofits. I pursued training as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, delved into conflict resolution facilitator training, and became well-versed in trauma-informed facilitation. This transformative journey inspired the establishment of Pressure Produced, fueled by a fervent commitment to reducing recidivism and addressing trauma within the black community. Through a blend of personal experience and acquired expertise, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of those navigating similar paths to reintegration.

JANISE JOHNSON

Program Director

As a native Minnesotan from South Minneapolis with roots in George Floyd Square, I've traversed the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. My deep-seated passion lies in empowering youth and fostering meaningful connections. Having experienced and witnessed social injustices, I transitioned from a corporate administration background to become a small business owner. The challenges brought by Covid and the aftermath of George Floyd's murder fueled a heightened desire to make a more significant impact in my communities. Trained in circle keeping, conflict coaching, and mediation, I serve on the Uptown Business Association board and hold the Co-President position at Conflict Resolution Minnesota. Beyond these roles, my favorite is being a mother of two, and I find joy in singing and spending time with my family.

What I would share about circle up is first appreciating the circle keepers for their commitment, compassion, and care for the people. They all are very informed about their work and direction. Circle up has created space for all to participate and in the experience. Circle up has truly created space that helps lighten the load from person to person. The direction takes mindful approaches to show the motion of life down to get a better grasp and hold of one’s opportunities from this point forward..I personally appreciate the welcome, the love and care offered an produced with circle up.
